NEW TEACHER INTERVIEWS

By Abigal Choe & Jocelyn Womack

MRS JANKOWSKI

It’s inevitable to run into a teacher hurrying through the halls. They’d be pushing carts around students to get to their classes and therefore get lots of exercise. Senora Jankowski, the new Spanish teacher to the Cherry Hill School District, would agree. Because the Spanish teachers need to move around the building, every single one of them gets lots of steps throughout the day. Senora Jankowski is new to Cherry Hill. “I previously worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Education at McClure Elementary School and I also worked at Delran Middle School and High School.” She had many teaching experiences as she’d been working in the Education System since 2010, when she came to America. It all came down to one of her colleagues who talked to her about the Cherry Hill district and convinced her to decide to work here instead of another township she was thinking about. Something that Senora Jankowski hasn’t quite gotten used to yet is people being able to wear hats and/or hoods indoors. In her old school, students weren’t allowed to wear them. Finally, she says the school’s a nice community and a place that feels great to work at every day. She explained how she thinks the majority of people at Beck are wonderful and make the school better.

“They are smart, contentious, and engaged,” Senora Jankowski wrote.

MRS MELCHIORRE

On team 1, the ELA teacher, Mrs. Melchiorre has been liking her new school. “I love the family-like feeling at Beck. The students and staff are so welcoming.” She has been teaching for 5 years, 4 years at Wildwood New Jersey and a year at a middle school where she taught with her mom. Both events happened for a reason, she had connections to them. Wildwood was where she was born and raised, and the middle school was in Mrs. Melchiorre’s hometown. However, because her fiance is currently a Cherry Hill Firefighter, they had to move. She fell in love with Beck while looking through schools and seemingly hasn’t regretted it since. Of course, the move had changed Mrs. Melchiorre’s life in many ways, such as more traffic that she had to get used to. At school, she enjoys the fact that Beck is huge so she can see many more students and teachers daily. It’s been these eventful experiences that are shaping Mrs. Melchiorre’s life today.
